The 2024 Nordstrom Anniversary sale dates have officially been released!

  • 6/27: Online preview starts (start building your shopping list!)
  • 7/9-7/14: Early Access
  • 7/15-8/4: Open to the Public

My all-time favorite sale of the year is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, or the NSale. I love to shop for shoes, especially fall booties, high quality coats and jackets, and denim, among other things. I also shop for Tommy during this sale because (a) he hates shopping and (b) men’s stuff is typically pretty expensive. This sale is the best for brands he loves like Peter Millar, Vineyard Vines, North Face, Barbour and more.

My picks from last year’s sale are below. As soon as the preview opens on June 27, I’ll update this post with my picks from this year’s selection.

What time does the Nordstrom Sale start?

There are a few tiers of access:

  • July 9 – Icon members (those who’ve spent $15,000 or more at the retailer in the past year)
  • July 10 – Ambassador members (those who’ve spent $5,000 or more at Nordstrom over the past year)
  • July 11 – Influencer members (all other Nordstrom cardholders)
  • July 15 – PUBLIC ACCESS

Everything you need to know about the 2024 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The Anniversary Sale happens once a year, and it’s different than most sales that stores promote. When a store has a sale, it’s typically to get rid of last season’s clothes as the new ones come in, and generally after the sale, things will go on final sale to make sure they get out the door. The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is different because they discount brand new styles and pieces for the fall season. And once the sale is over, the prices go right back up to the normal retail value. It’s essentially like a pre-season sale. And it’s sooo good.

In fact, this is one of the most popular — if not THE most popular– retail sales in the country, outside of the holiday shopping season. And for good reason! I’ve gotten some of my all-time favorite pieces during this sale at great prices. It’s like back-to-school shopping as an adult. 😉

There are some unique details to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that you need to know ahead of time.

First, Nordstrom Card holders shop first. As a Nordstrom cardholder, you get to shop the Early Access Sale weeks before the entire public shops. I’ll talk about why I love being a Nordstrom Cardholder below.

For the non-card holders, Public Access Sale starts July 15 and runs through August 4. Then prices for all of the merchandise go up on August 5.

What to expect from me during the sale

Every year, I round up and link my favorite picks from the entire sale. I spend hours looking through the pieces and organizing my finds so that you can shop the sale easily. I publish this blog post when the Early Access Sale starts and then re-publish this same post when Public Access opens. (So bookmark this post! It’ll be updated regularly!!) When Public Access opens, I go back to see what’s sold out, pick new things out, and make sure it’s still helpful for those who haven’t shopped yet.

I also post on my LTK page during the sale to link specific looks. You can follow me on LTK here. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale aside, I would definitely follow me on LTK.It if you ever wonder where my outfits are from. In fact, I always link them there and post exclusive fashion content on that app! So if you don’t know much about LTK, read this post.

What’s different this year?

Nordstrom is giving everyone access to preview the sale on June 27. You can build your wishlist on Nordstrom’s website for easy checkout once you have access to shop, AND Nordstrom will let you know when something on your wishlist restocks (since things will sell out FAST).

Should I become a Nordstrom Cardholder?

Great question. It’s not a deal breaker not to be a cardholder, especially since the sale does become public, but I’ve been a cardholder for years, and I love it. I will say that there are a lot of cardholders and there are lots of pieces sell out during the Early Access Sale.

If you have your eyes on specific pieces AND you shop with Nordstrom regularly, it’s definitely something to consider. (With my background in finance, I’m not one to casually recommend that you open a bunch of credit cards! In fact, this is the only brand-specific credit card I have.) But, if you’ve never shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale before, maybe see what it’s like this year before opening a card.

What if something doesn’t fit (or isn’t great in person)?

One of the reasons that I’m so loyal to Nordstrom is their return policy. They send a free shipping return label in every one of their packages so that you can repack your items and pop them back into the mail easily. No questions asked. It’s almost better than shopping in person because there’s no pressure and you can try your items on in your own home. (Although I DO really want a Nordstrom location in Winston-Salem!!)

So the return policy alone is enough of a reason to shop at Nordstrom.  This sale is on new pieces, and nothing is final sale so you can return anything you don’t love.

My 2023 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

If you want to see a try-on of some items, you can watch my Try on Haul on YouTube to see the fit and how things move! And I filmed a second Try On Haul with items that came in a later order (including lots of coats and shoes).

Women’s Shoes

This year I wanted to make sure to find some good booties for fall/winter. I wear them with jeans and dresses and I think they pair well with almost everything. Plus, they’re comfortable! You can also see all of my must-have sandals in this post help guide you in your sale shopping if you’re still hunting for summer shoes. See the rest of their sale shoe selection here!

I didn’t try on any shoes when I went shopping in store because I was just so exhausted but I ordered a few pairs online.

Activewear

I always look for Zella items, since the brand is high quality and affordable. Recently, I’ve loved wearing athleisure outfits, so I’m eyeing a few activewear pieces from the sale. This section is full of great finds.

Here’s what I love from the sale this year:

Free People All Star Runsie

This Free People All Star Runsie (also available in all sizes at a BETTER discount at Zappos) was a little out of my comfort zone, but I saw a few women share it while they were pregnant and loved that idea. Since it’s skin-tight, it makes the most sense to wear it when I have an obvious baby bump. I ordered a Medium to wear as my bump grows, but a small would have fit me better now. It runs a little bit small so size up if you’re on the fence. Usually $98, marked down to $64.99.

Zella Anya Ottoman Knit Pullover

I’m wearing an XS in this Zella Anya Ottoman Knit Pullover and runs a little large for an oversized fit. It’s warm and a nice outer layer, but it’s not too thick or hot. $49.99, marked down from $79.00.

My other athleisure favorites:

Jeans

Denim is one of those pieces that I am willing to splurge on since I know they will last for YEARS. It’s so rare to find such great jeans discounted so much. This is a great time to buy some must-have jeans. Make sure to spend some time in the denim section of Nordstrom’s site— it’s good!

Levi Ribcage Ripped High Waist Ankle Straight Leg Jeans

The Ribcage Ripped High Waist Ankle Straight Leg Jeans from Levi are SUCH a great affordable pair of jeans from this sale. I sized up one size because I’m pregnant. They are a little tight when you pull them on but they fit perfectly once they are up. I would get your true size and let them loosen over time since they’re a more rigid fit. I have a size 26. Usually $98, but on sale for $64.99.

See a video review here on LTK where I show all angles.

Kut from the Kloth Kelsey Fab Ab High Waist Ankle Flare Jeans

The Kut from the Kloth Kelsey Fab Ab High Waist Ankle Flare Jeans are my second favorite pair from the sale. Stretchy and comfortable for a growing bump. I sized up to a 4 for pregnancy’s sake, but they run true to size. $72.99, marked down from $109.00. You can see them on me with better lighting in this reel.

Wit and Wisdom Ab’Solution High Waist Itty Bitty Bootcut Jeans

Wit and Wisdom Ab’Solution High Waist Itty Bitty Bootcut Jeans are a perfect affordable pair of flare jeans. They’re stretchy and comfortable and fit is true to size. $58.99, marked down from $88.00. You can see it on me with better lighting in this reel.

Wit and Wisdom Ab’Solution High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans

Wit and Wisdom Ab’Solution High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans are a very stretchy black jean. They’re super comfortable, and the waistline is designed to help hold you in, which is a nice perk. They run true to size. These are usually $74.00 and marked down to $44.99.

Other sale denim I’m loving:

Dresses

I was not super impressed with the dress selection this year, but I did manage to find a few great ones. You can also see my must-have styles of dresses here to help guide you in your sale shopping.

Good American Gathered Side Long Sleeve Dress

I ordered this dress specifically to wear with a bump this fall. The stomach ruching is SO flattering, and assuming you’re taller than me (I’m 5’1″), it will fit you even better. It’s just a tad long on me. I ordered a size 1 and it fits true to size. It’s usually $139 and currently on sale for $89.99.

Treasure and Bond Wavy Check Sweater Minidress

This Treasure and Bond Wavy Check Sweater Minidress is such a fun 70s moment that will look so cute with a bump. Wearing a size XS and it runs true to size. $49.99, marked down from $79.00. You can see it on me with better lighting in this reel.

Babysoft Long Sleeve Rib Sweater Dress

I also ordered this dress to wear with a bump this fall. The material is INCREDIBLY soft (hence the name Babysoft, I suppose), and like the black dress above, it would be ideal on someone a little taller than me. Overall, this would make a perfect fall dress with heels, tall boots, or booties. I have a size small and it fits true to size. Typically $128, on sale for $75.99.

Steve Madden Anna Floral Chiffon Dress

This dress is one of my favorite finds from the sale this year. The colors are stunning in person, the high neck is such a nice detail (and would look amazing with your hair pulled up), and the length lends itself to many occasions. The fit is true to size, and I’m wearing an XS. It’s only $58.99, marked down from $99.00.

Steve Madden Pleated Cap Sleeve Minidress

This mini dress comes in 3 colors and is a perfect option for a more casual wedding, church, or any other fun occasion this fall. While I like this orange color, I think I’d rather have the black since it’s more versatile. The fit runs true to size, and I’m wearing an XS. $52.99, marked down from $89.00.

My other favorite dresses:

Tops & Sweaters

You’ll see some basics, some really fun, feminine pieces, and also some really great pops of color! I’d scroll through this whole tops section on Nordstrom’s site since it’s always good to refresh our tops.

Open Edit Mock Neck Rib Sweater

This Open Edit Mock Neck Rib Sweater is my favorite top from the sale so far. I love chartreuse and the shape is different from everything in my closet. I’m wearing an XS and the fir is true to size. It’s $39.99, and typically $59.00.

Open Edit V-Neck Rib Sweater

This light blue v-neck sweater is the PERFECT color. It bright and happy but the shade of blue will still work well for fall. The material is super soft and just really comfortable. The length is slightly cropped, which is always a flattering option for sweaters since they’re usually a little baggy. This is usually $59 and is on sale for $39.99.

Organic Cotton Blend Crewneck Sweater

I got this sweater in a rust color that’s no longer available, but the other colors are great options for fall. I got this sweater in a size small but it fits oversized. You may want to order your usual size – I sized up and kind of wish I’d gotten an XS. This is usually $69 and on sale for $39.99.

Good American Washed Satin Camisole

This top is a GREAT closet staple for years to come, and I wish everyone would buy it. I’m always wishing I had a silky tank like this for date nights or to wear underneath cardigans, and this one has adjustable straps AND you can wash it! I got a size 1 and it fits true to size. It’s a splurge — especially for a cami — but the color and material are gorgeous in person and it’s a classic style so I’ll be able to wear it for years. Typically $115, on sale for $74.99.

More tops I’m loving from the sale

Jackets & Coats

The selection of coats, blazers and jackets this year is probably the best I’ve ever seen included in the sale! Coats and jackets are definitely something I buy at the Anniversary Sale since they’re typically more expensive pieces and I like getting them on sale. And, it’s also a good excuse to get some more fun items now that I have my basic needs covered with outerwear. (I focused on getting basics last year, like a very warm long puffer coat and a lightweight jacket for spring and fall.) Barbour RARELY goes on sale, but there are some amazing Barbour jackets included in this year’s sale.

Elvira Water Resistant Hooded Puffer Jacket

This puffer jacket is one of the warmest coats I’ve ever had. Not only is it a down fill, but the inside is also fleece lined. I love the short length too (I love to have both a short and long coat for winter). I have a size small. Usually $248, currently $179.99.

Vince Camuto Check Two-Button Blazer

This blazer is one of my favorite picks from the entire sale. I love the look of a longer blazer with jeans, and this fit just right. I’m have a size 2 and I think it runs a little small; I’m typically a 0 in jackets so perhaps size up. This is $169.00 full price and marked down to $111.99. You can see it on me with better lighting in this reel. (This Halogen blazer is almost identical and has all sizes stocked if you need a smaller size.)

Other coats I’m loving:

Loungewear

I always wear “real” clothes when I work, even though I work from home (and have for years). But, let’s be honest, since I’m pregnant, I’ll probably end up in loungewear a lot more often this fall. Here are my favorite soft picks from this year’s loungewear sale section.

Hooded Long Cotton Waffle Robe

Do I need another robe? No! But I loved this hooded waffle robe. This is a medium weight and comes in 4 colors (I liked this darker color so that makeup stains won’t show). It fits a little large — like most robes — and I wearing an XS. Usually $125.00, marked down to $84.99.

Other lounge finds I’m loving:

Accessories

A smaller selection but some GOOD stuff.

Pick #1

Snake Chain Drop Earrings – These are the perfect earrings for some fun events I have coming up this fall! Currently sold out, but Nordstrom often restocks earrings so keep an eye out.

Pick #2

Cashmere Scarf – I was in need of a new scarf and was so excited to find this one. It’s 100% cashmere and SO soft. I also love that there’s no fringe on the ends. This is usually $155.00 and marked down to $99.99.

Other favorite accessories:

Beauty

A couple great finds! I LOVE my T3 Curling Iron (you can read my review here) and it’s also included in the sale.

Baby & Kids

My #1 pick from the entire sale is the Doona Carseat Stroller system, so I’m praying it restocks. It was already sold out when I’m shopped early!! Also, BOTH of my must-have strollers are on sale – the UppaBaby Vista and the Thule Jogging Stroller.

Read my review of our UppaBaby stroller here and read my review of the Thule Jogging Stroller here)!

I got a couple of cute tops for Thomas too.

Men’s Clothing

Tommy never shops, and if he does, 99.9% of what he buys is from Duckhead. But, this sale is a great way to refresh his closet with a few items that Duckhead doesn’t carry or for just a little variety. This year’s men’s sale has the best selection I’ve seen yet. There are tons of full suits on sale, shoes, and also great dress shirts. I bought Tommy just a couple basic tees.

Home

There are definitely a few gems in this group, even though it’s a smaller sale section. In fact,I like to have a few nice hostess gifts on hand at my house, and this sale is a great time to snag a few cheese boards for that purpose. I’m also love Barefoot Dreams and they make great gifts so I’m snagging a couple more for that reason.

Don’t forget to bookmark this post and follow me on the LTK app for updates on my favorite picks throughout the sale!

Okay, happy shopping!

Denim shorts are by far the most worn thing in my closet in the warmer months. They’re comfortable to wear all day, go with any top, and look cute with all sorts of shoes. For moms, denim shorts are both cute and comfortable — if you get the right pair.

But, as an almost 40 year old and mom of two, finding denim shorts that are not too short or too tight is challenging. I’m not comfortable wearing “short-shorts” anymore, and SO many of the jean short options on the market are super short and tight (and look like they’re better for a 15 year old than a someone in their late-thirties). So over the past couple of years, I’ve made it my mission to find denim shorts that are cute AND appropriate for my stage of life.

Luckily, over the last two years I’ve had a lot of success with cute AND appropriate jean shorts, and this spring I hit the jackpot on mom-approved denim shorts. In this post I shared my top picks for jean shorts for moms, so if you’re like me and struggle to find jean shorts you truly love, keep reading. This is is for you!

How to find the best denim shorts

Try on a lot. Seriously. I had to try lots of different styles at various price points before finding a pair that felt totally comfortable on me, but it was worth the search. Since jean shorts are a summertime staple, you want to LOVE the pair you’ll be wearing everyday. I did the same thing when it came to white jeans. I tried 15 pairs of white jeans before finding my favorites — it just takes time!

It’s also important to remember that when it comes to a pair of shorts you know you’ll wear a handful of times per week, you have to keep cost per wear in mind. Spending ~$100 on denim shorts may sound crazy at first, but when you break down how many times you wear them, it becomes much more reasonable.

What type of jean shorts are in style 2024?

Welp, one of the major fashion trends in 2024 are SUPER short shorts. Some of them look like denim underwear. But on the other hand, trouser-like shorts like these from J.Crew are also popular, so we’re safer in that area.

What is the most flattering length for jean shorts?

This boils down to what you feel best in, but in general, a high waisted pair with a mid-length that doesn’t show your booty is a good, flattering choice.

Is it better to size up or down in denim shorts?

This will vary from brand to brand, but if I am in-between sizes in denim, I always go up in size for comfort and so that I don’t feel like I’m forcing myself into them. I had a baby in January so I’m also buying my clothes in a size or two up this season for that reason.

Okay, ready to see what I’m loving this summer?

The 5 Best Denim Shorts for Moms

All of these pairs are a bit different in terms of fit, price and how to style them. If you want the most versatile pair, I think #3 is probably best given the style and wash (it works well with loose and fitted tops and can be dressed up or down). But, it’s also the most expensive pair. You could also try pair #1 in a darker wash to accomplish the same goal of versatility but I don’t love the darker wash options in that style. The wash I have is lighter, which lends itself to a more casual look.

Okay, let’s get into the top 5 pairs I’ve tried and love!

1. Abercrombie High Rise Dad Shorts

My #1 pick for jean shorts for moms this year are the Abercrombie High Rise Dad Shorts. These come in multiple washes and styles, but I like the “light wash” with the wide, finished hem best. They feel ultra polished and conservative, but they’re casual and relaxed like a denim short should be. I wear a size 27 in this style and they have a loose (but not baggy) fit around my thigh. They have a 5″ inseam which feels perfect on me as a mom. Not too short, but not long enough that I feel frumpy.

Abercrombie makes all of their denim in two fits: regular and Curve Love. Curve Love is a great option if you have muscular legs and glutes because they have an additional 2 inches through the hip and thigh to help eliminate waist-gap. You can buy the High Rise Dad Shorts in the Curve Love fit here.

Thee look great with all types of tops – loose, fitted, dressier, more casual. And they are only $70!

2. Abercrombie High Rise Loose Shorts

Next on the denim shorts for mom list are the Abercrombie High Rise Loose Shorts. These are a little different from the Dad Shorts because they have a more relaxed, almost vintage feel. They remind me of the jean shorts Kelly Kapowski would wear on Saved By The Bell. The waist is high and the fit is relaxed throughout the entire leg. They have a 6″ inseam, making them super appropriate to wear as a mom. They have a very trendy “baby hem” too, which makes them feel a bit more relaxed compared to the Dad Shorts.

I ordered a size 27 in these and they fit perfectly. You can buy the Curve Love fit of the High Rise Loose Shorts here. These look best with a top that is more fitted to balance the wider leg. These are on sale for 25% off through 5/13.

3. Agolde Parker Long Shorts

My #3 pick is the Parker style from Agolde in the longer length. I bought my first pair two years ago which was a raw-hem, distressed style, and ordered a second pair last year with a finished hem in a darker wash. Both are super similar, the only difference being the distressing and raw hem style.

For two years, this was the pair of shorts I liked best. I was convinced that they were the best-fitting true-denim shorts for moms, but Abercrombie changed my mind this year. I’m still keeping my AGOLDE shorts, but I haven’t reached for them since I got my Abercrombie pairs. And you can’t beat that Abercrombie is significantly cheaper! I do love the wash, however.

The AGOLDE pair as a 4 1/2″ inseam and feels similar to Abercrombie in terms of rigidness. I tend to keep them out of the wash as much as I can since I love how much they loosen out with a few wears, and once you wash and dry them, they tighten back up. I wear my true size 25 in these. I typically HATE a button-fly, but this pair doesn’t bother me.

These look great with all types of tops.

Here are a few snaps in the distressed pair:

4. Madewell Patch-Pocket Denim Shorts

This pair of jean shorts aren’t necessarily a classic denim short style, but if you’re looking for a second pair of jean shorts that have a more tailored look, this is the pair for you. I LOVE them. The Patch-Pocket Denim Shorts has an a-line style that’s incredibly flattering. Since the waist is fitted, it’s slimming in the right places and then the legs are wide in the right places too. If you hate when jean shorts feel stuck to your shorts, you will love this pair.

These run SMALL! I got a size 25 and will need to go up to a 26. These look best with a half tuck (or a fully tucked shirt) to highlight the style of the front pockets.

5. Madewell Perfect Jean Shorts

If you like stretchy denim shorts, then this is the pair for you. While these were my least favorite of all of the shorts above since I prefer a more rigid denim, they’re still a great option for anyone looking for superior comfort. The Perfect Jean Shorts are also a high rise style, but have a much more fitted look. They’re tighter through the leg, which is not my preference, but they have a great long inseam that I do like.

I got my true size 25 and I’d say they fit true to size. The lighter wash is such a nice summer option. These look great with all types of tops, but I tend to prefer something looser since the stretchier fabric tends to hug my body a bit more.

I hope this post helps you find the PERFECT pair of denim shorts for the summer. I know how hard it is to find the right pair, but once you do, you’ll be happy all summer long.

I tried on 15 different pairs of skinny white jeans before I found the keeper. Now I have 3 different styles from the same brand.

Madewell is having a 20% off sale through Monday, May 13! Use code LTK20 for 20% off. Here’s what I got from their spring arrivals. Be sure to follow me on the LTK app to see my daily outfits. If you’re not sure how to use the app, watch this short reel!

I’ve always thought that white jeans looked SO cute – on other people.

Year after year, I would try on a pair in the spring and feel so frustrated since they looked AWFUL on me. I couldn’t figure it out! They made me look MUCH heavier than I actually was, showed every imperfection or just looked frumpy. They all looked terrible, even the ones from brands that I typically loved. So I made it my mission a few years ago to find the very best pair of white jeans (at the time, I was only looking for skinny jeans).

Naturally, I ordered FIFTEEN pairs to try on and compare. (Only from places with good return policies, of course!!!) And I finally found a WINNER–– and now, years later, I have multiple pairs of white jeans (in multiple styles!) from that same winning brand for some variety (and because the styles I first bought are no longer made). Today I’m sharing the styles I have and recommend. So without further ado, here we go.

And the Best White Jeans Ever award goes to… MADEWELL!

I’m a hug fan of Madewell’s other clothes too, but this post is all about their white jeans.

Best White Skinny Jeans

The best white skinny jeans on the market (and I can say this, since I tried 15 others on!) is the Madewell version. The style they have this year is the Stovepipe Jeans in Pure White. While they are not the skinniest skinny jeans ever, they’re the closest option to a skinny jean that Madewell has in a white wash this spring (the ankle is slightly relaxed at the bottom rather than skin tight). The wash is a pure white, which is always what I’m looking for when it comes to a white skinny jean. The high-rise style is super flattering with cropped shirts and blouses.

This pair is $128, and the original pair I bought from Madewell has lasted years, so I feel confident these will too. The length is cropped just above the ankle bone, which is super flattering, since this is usually the smallest point of your leg. If you are petite (5’4″ and below), I suggest the petite inseam.

I wear a size 25 Petite in this style, and they fit TTS. They’re stretchy, but they don’t look sloppy and loose by the end of the day. Winner, winner!

Why I love the Madewell Stovepipe Jeans

The Madewell Stovepipe Jeans in Pure White are the perfect shade of white, not too tight, not too loose, not too thin and not see-through (which was shockingly common with many pairs, yikes).

Honestly, they’re just the most flattering white jeans I’ve found. I love that they are stretchy and easy to wear throughout an entire day, but they don’t stretch out and lose their shape, which is a common issue I’ve found with other jeans. These look great from the minute I put them on until the minute I take them off! They’re made with organic cotton, so you can feel great about how they’re made too.

The photos below are last year’s version of the Madewell White Skinny Jean for reference.

Woman in Madewell White Skinny Jean

Kick Out Crop Jeans in Pure White

The next style of white jeans is similar to the skinny jeans, but with a small flare at the bottom, called the Kick Out Crop Jeans. The pure white color is a bright white, which feels super crisp and clean. I love this shade for the warmer months. For this pair, Madewell brought back the exact same style as last year, and I’m so glad.

These are slim fitting through the hip and top of the leg, then cropped and have a slight flare at the bottom. The cropped kick flare style is all over the fashion world right now, and for good reason. These are easy to style with sneakers, loafers, flats, and heels, and they feel more casual than the skinny jeans.

This style is as a mid-rise, which is super comfortable. I wear a size 25 Petite in this style, and they’re SUPER stretchy and comfortable (this is due to their Cone denim, which hugs your legs, and doesn’t get saggy by the afternoon). While the website listing says to size down, I found that my true size fit best.

Why I Love the Kick Out Crop Jeans

The Kick Out Crop jeans are a little trendier right now, for good reason! Skinny jeans are classic, but this cropped style is super flattering, especially on someone petite like me! I actually found lots of non-skinny jeans I love last year. These are similar to flare jeans but with a crop at the ankle, making them different than traditional bootcut styles. They’re a sort of hybrid between a cropped flare and boot cut, which is currently my favorite style of jeans (and seems to be the trend now too). They have a slim straight fit through the top which widens towards the bottom.

The wash is the same perfect shade of white (not cream, ecru, or ivory..if you’re looking for off-white jeans, these are not the pair for you) as the skinny pair, not too tight in the thigh or in general, not too loose, not too thin and also not see through. If you are petite (5’4″ and below) I suggest the petite inseam, here. I like my cropped straight leg jeans to hit above my ankle. This is currently my favorite pair of jeans in my closet because they’re a stretch denim that feels great all day.

The ’90s Straight Jean in Vintage Canvas

The third pair of white jeans I own (and LOVE) is the The ’90s Straight Jean in Vintage Canvas. I believe they were called the Perfect Vintage Straight Jean in Tile White last year, but from everything I can tell, they are the same. These are a true straight leg style, which is much looser than the Skinny Jean and Kick Out Crop. The other difference is the wash. While the two pairs of jeans above are a pure white, the ’90s Straight Jean is not. It’s an off-white, which I’m currently very into. They feel more laid back and casual, which is really fun.

The style feels very ’90’s (hence the name), and the waist is a really flattering high rise. Since the fit is much looser down the leg, the flattering waist is the key to making these such a flattering style. Unlike the two styles above, this pair of jeans is not quite as stretchy. That’s not to say they aren’t comfortable (they really are), but they aren’t as stretchy as the others. I appreciate the more “true denim” feel.

Why I love the perfect vintage straight jeans

The main reason I love the ’90s Straight Jean so much is because I started to get really tired of my fitted jeans over the past two years. I was craving something more laid back and a little trendier too. This style felt a little bold to me at first (baggier jeans feel SO weird when you’re used to a fitted style), but they grew on me instantly.

Since the other two styles feel a little more polished, I really appreciate the fun, laid back look of this straight leg style. I wear a size 25P, my true size.

And now to the older Madewell Jeans I’ve bought and loved.

Since Madewell is pretty well known for their white jeans, they do a great job updating their styles just a little each season to make them better. The styles above are the 2023 versions, but I wanted to share another (older) style, since they’re discounted, and you can still find them at some retailers like Nordstrom Rack.

High-Rise Skinny Jeans in Pure White

The High-Rise Skinny Jean in Pure White was the pair that sold me on Madewell. It makes me a little nostalgic thinking back to that spring when I discovered these jeans because it felt like I had hit a gold mine! The only difference between this pair and the skinny jeans linked above is the inseam. This older style has a 10″ inseam, making them a true “high-rise”. I was able to find one size available at Nordstrom Rack.

Here are a few photos of this pair (isn’t baby Thomas cute?).

How to style white jeans

I feel like white jeans are just as versatile as dark jeans. They’re cute with sweaters, blouses, patterned tanks, a chambray, or even paired with a white tank for an all-white look. I don’t typically pair them with a fitted top (and I’m not really a crop top girl) and find I’m more drawn to flowy or loose blouses. But, experiment and see what you like best!

In fact, I was about to give my skinny jeans away, since I was rarely wearing them, and in a last ditch effort decided to style them. I ended up loving the outfit so much, I decided to keep the jeans, ha! See the reel where I did that here!

These are all the brands of white jeans I ordered and tried on:

  1. Madewell
  2. Gap
  3. J.Crew
  4. Joe’s
  5. Hudson
  6. 7 for All Mankind
  7. Levi’s
  8. Boden
  9. Frame
  10. Articles of Society
  11. DL 1961
  12. J. Brand (not made anymore!)
  13. Paige
  14. AG

I currently own or have owned denim pants from all of these brands in the past so I knew I loved them, but it took trying a bunch of white jeans to find a pair that worked for me. I’m petite at 5’1″ and curvier than most petite frames, since I have decent sized quads and glutes from running & lifting. So it was hard to find a pair that fit me well.

If you struggle to find cute white jeans for women, I highly recommend trying on a BUNCH. There was a clear winner in my book. (I ordered the majority from Nordstrom since they have an amazing return policy and we don’t have a Nordstrom in Winston. And some I bought directly from the site, including Gap, J.Crew and Boden.)

Before I finish, I did want to note a few brands that I did NOT try, but I’ve recently loved in other washes. I’d love to try MOTHER Denim’s white jeans, since I love their other styles. I’d also like to try this pair of effortlessly cool Spanx pants. I LOVE Spanx, so I have a feeling I’d love these.

What’s your favorite brand of white jeans? And am I the only one who seriously struggled to find a good pair?!?

These swimsuits are flattering, not too skimpy and timeless to last you for years!

I am SO excited about the summer with Thomas and Charles! Thomas loves the water, and he just finished a swim lesson intensive so he’s going to be SO much more confident in the pool this summer. I’m personally not a big pool fan (I’m not a super strong swimmer), but since Thomas loves it, we’ll spend lots of time at our neighborhood pool this summer. That being said, I needed to do some swimsuit shopping.

If you’re like me (and you probably are if you’re reading this post!), you’re looking for cute, flattering swimsuits that are still conservative and comfortable, especially if you’re an older mom like me. (I’ll be 40 in a few months and have a 3.5 year old and a 3 month old.) I don’t want anything too skimpy, and I need to be able to move around and hold the kiddos without worrying about things staying in place. I also don’t usually like anything too trendy or super cheaply made. (However, if there’s an occasion you want a fun swimsuit for, sometimes a cheaper option is best for a one time wear.)

I believe in quality over quantity, so I typically buy 1-2 nice bathing suits a year and just alternate. Again, the key here is buying suits that are simple and not too trendy. And then, when I’m not feeling my best in a swimsuit anymore, I sell it on the TeriLyn’s Closet Instagram account. However, I did end up finding a handful of great affordable suits, so you’ll see them below.

In this post, I’m rounding up my favorite picks so far, at lots of different price ranges. I love a mix of solid colors and patterns, since I get bored of the same suits after a while.

Best Swimsuits for Hiding Larger Stomachs

This is a very commonly searched question, so I wanted to be sure to cover it. I actually don’t have a large stomach, but I have dealt with pretty severe bloating after my c-section and I feel most confident in suits that have ruching (if a one piece) and if a two piece I like high waisted with compression (like Left on Friday). The swimsuit directly below is the most flattering option I’ve found.

One Piece Swimsuits

Let’s jump into the one pieces first, and then I’ll update this post with bikinis once my orders come in.

Island Goddess One-Piece Swimsuit

My top pick for the year (and the last 4 years) is the Island Goddess One-Piece Swimsuit from La Blanca. I’ve had it for 3 years now, and it’s STILL my very favorite. The ruching is perfect for a little tummy coverage (I love this suit even in my early postpartum days) and so, so incredibly flattering. The neckline is high enough to be very appropriate but low enough to feel feminine and just a touch sexy. The bum is full coverage.

This La Blanca suit runs TTS, and I have a 4.

Target One Shoulder Asymmetrical Cut Out One Piece

I would have guessed this One Shoulder Asymmetrical Cut Out One Piece was a designer swimsuit if I didn’t find it myself. For only $40, this is such a steal. I’ve owned swimsuits from this brand before and the quality is great. This swimsuit has a medium to full coverage booty. I have a size small.

Target Bralette Tie-Front One Piece Swimsuit

I was immediately drawn to this front-tie one piece from Target. I love the coral color and the front detailing that feels tastefully sexy but still appropriate for the pool (if you have a small bust). Booty is full coverage and the reviews are all great. I just bought it and ended up returning since I needed more coverage on the front, but I think it will work really well if you have a smaller chest.

Target Full Coverage Pucker Textured Square Neck One Piece Swimsuit

This blue Pucker Textured Square Neck One Piece feels like a Hunza G look for less. It’s super cute, flattering, the color is great in person, and the coverage is full in the back. (I haven’t liked the Hunza G swimsuits because they are too cheeky for me.) The straps are adjustable too! I have a size small.

Target Cut Out Knotted One Piece Swimsuit

This purple one piece from Target is really fun because of the side knots. The lilac color is perfect for spring and summer (if you have a tan), and the fit is true to size. I have a small.

Ribbed Plunge Twist-Front One Piece Swimsuit

Yet ANOTHER Target find! This twist front one piece is super flattering, even with a simple shape. I got the same swimsuit in purple last year and the neckline is just deep enough to be sexy, but it’s definitely not overboard. The bum is full coverage and I’m wearing an XS. I’d say this runs a little big.

Ribbed Plunge one piece Flattering Swimsuits one of the Best swimsuits for moms

Left On Friday Peak One Swimsuit

One of my favorite swimsuit brands EVER is called Left On Friday. The material they use has great compression, the cut is always flattering, the fit is perfect, etc. They are worth EVERY penny of the price! I love that you can really swim in Left On Friday.

The ONLY qualm I have is that their swimsuits aren’t lined, so I recommend getting these nippies to wear underneath. They’re waterproof and last for SO many uses. (I have a two piece from LOF that I love, as well, which you’ll see further down in the post.)

I’m wearing an XS here. It ended up being a little tight, so I would say go up one size.

Amazon Essentials Women’s Thin Strap Scoop Neck Swimsuit

I ordered this Amazon coral one piece last year to compare to the La Blanca suit I linked first, and it’s great. Just as good as La Blanca? No, but definitely a good budget option! I’m wearing an XS and it’s slightly large. The price is SO good.

One Piece Swimsuit Color Block Keyhole

This Target colorblock one piece is from last year but still available. It’s a super fun option if you love color. The orange and brown combo is a nice blend of fun and neutral, and I love the deep v-neck. I’m wearing an XS in this, and it fits a little big.

Ruched Bandeau One-Piece Swimsuit

This hot pink one piece from J.Crew is SO flattering with the front ruching tummy control (especially if you’re postpartum) and the neckline is nice too! It’s fully lined AND has a full coverage bottom. I wasn’t a fan of bandeau cuts on me before this suit, but I wore this non-stop last season (and the year before) and plan to do the same again this year. It comes in 10 colors, and it comes in a classic fit or a fit for long torsos, which is great for taller women. I wear a size 2, and I’m typically a size XS in most items. I think this style would be flattering on all body types.

Two Piece Swimsuits

I ordered these two suits before our trip to Dominica last year and I LOVE them! I’m planning to order a few more suits, so keep your eyes out for when I update this post.

Left On Friday Sunday Top and Bottoms

This Left on Friday bikini set is my very favorite of all of the two pieces I’ve ever had. The brand makes super high quality pieces that feel sporty while also being super flattering. I wear an XS in the top in the pictures below, but I’ll have to size up this year given that I’m now breastfeeding.

I’m wearing the High Tide bottoms in an XS too.

Tularosa Dreamer Top and Bottoms

This Tularosa floral bikini set was another fun splurge for our recent trip to Dominica. I LOVE the color and pattern, and the cut is super feminine. The bottom is a little cheekier than I would wear to our neighborhood pool though, so keep that in mind. This is a good swimsuit for a vacation with your husband. Shop the bikini top here and the bikini bottoms here.

Target Pucker Texture Square Neck Bikini

This Pucker Texture Square Neck Bikini Top and Bottom set is SO similar to Hunza G. I love the bright color (not too bright, not too boring). The fit is really good, and the straps are adjustable. I also appreciate that the bottoms are high waisted since no mom wants to wear a low waisted bikini. I got a medium in the top and small in the bottoms.

Scalloped Navy Bikini Set

I was blown away when I first tried on this scalloped one-shoulder bikini. First of all, it looks much more expensive than it is. And second – it fits PERFECTLY. I find that it’s rare for an Amazon bikini to truly fit perfectly, but this one does! I’m wearing an XS.

J.Crew Squareneck Bikini Top

J.Crew is always one of my go-tos when shopping for swimsuits, since their styles fit really well, and the quality is top notch. This hot pink bikini top is a perfect option for our neighborhood pool, since it’s flattering but not too revealing. I’m wearing it with the J.Crew Classic Full Coverage Bikini Bottom in this fun Bright Cerise color.

TeriLyn Adams wearing J.Crew Squareneck Bikini Top

Amazon Cutout One Shoulder Bikini Set

Isn’t this black & white colorblock bikini fun? When I first saw the contrasting color blocking I was sold. I’m wearing a size small in this set, and it runs just slightly large.

High Waisted Colorblocking Swimsuit

Yet another Amazon find :). This colorblock bikini set is both sporty and feminine, and a great option for a neighborhood pool. The bottoms are full coverage, which is always what I look for! I also love that the straps on the top are adjustable. I’m wearing a small in this set, and it fits well.

Two Piece Sports Bathing Suit

This pink bikini set is a Hunza dupe, but it’s from Amazon. I got it two years ago for our beach trip with my brother’s family, and it was the perfect two piece option. I love how secure it felt even as I chased Thomas all over the beach! It comes in lots of colors, but I’m wearing the “Rose Red” in a size small. The bottoms have good, full coverage. Oh! And you can’t beat the $29 price tag. I would have ordered an XS if they had it, but the small was still okay.

TeriLyn Adams wearing a ribbed pink Bathing Suit

My Amazon visor has also been amazing; it has so much coverage, but because there’s no brim on the back, you can lean your head back on your chair!

Two Piece Scoop Neck Bikini

Another amazing Amazon find from last year that’s still available! This bright orange set was another great option for chasing Thomas around on the beach. The bum has full coverage, and the color makes anyone look tan. I have an XS in this set.

My Favorite Cover-ups

Long Crochet Coverup

I have a handful of swimsuit cover-ups from Amazon that I LOVE. The first is this long crochet coverup that I bought for our anniversary trip to Dominica last year. I love the length and that you can see my swimsuit through it but still feel appropriate for lunch by the pool.

Short Crochet Coverup

My next pick is this short crochet coverup also from Amazon. I love the open back and the relaxed fit. I have a size small.

Happy swimming and lounging! And don’t forget sunscreen! Here’s a list of my favorite non-toxic sunscreens.

All of these swimsuits were independently selected by me and no brand paid me to include them.

The Best Tuckernuck Dresses

My style has changed a good bit over the last decade since I moved from Utah to North Carolina and also as I got a little older. Everyone’s style evolves over time, and in the last few years, I’ve especially started to love southern styles that are colorful, feminine, and slightly preppy. And since shopping and sourcing items for readers is part of my full-time gig here on the blog and Instagram, I spend lots of time scrolling through websites and scouring new arrivals to find great dresses, jeans, tops, shoes and accessories. (There are links below to some of those round-ups so you can find my current favorites in each category, plus a couple other popular fashion posts.)

One of my ALL time favorite fashion retailers is Tuckernuck. I discovered Tuckernuck only a few years ago, but since finding them, I’ve become rather loyal. It was started by friends Jocelyn Moore Gailliot, Madeline Moore, and September Rinnier in a Georgetown garage, and has been incredibly successful since their 2012 launch. The women started the company while hunting for unique gifts, clothes and accessories for the many weddings, baby showers, and dinner parties they were attending. They wanted an easier place to shop (specifically online) for things, since it was taking them hours to find what they were shopping for.

I’ve found that Tuckernuck is exactly that — an online boutique sourced so well that I want to order nearly every item they carry. They make shopping so easy because they only carry the best items from the best brands. They also have amazing hostess and wedding gifts on their website too. It’s truly a one-stop-shop. My favorite items from Tuckernuck are always dresses, though, since they’re an entire outfit all on their own. They have dresses at every price point, for every occasion.

12 Best Tuckernuck Dresses

Today I’m sharing a roundup of my favorite dresses from Tuckernuck for the spring, including casual day dresses, weddings, date nights and more.

1. Chambray Callahan Shirt Dress

I love the fit of the Chambray oversized shirt dress. I’m wearing an XS, and it’s relaxed (especially in the back), but still flattering. Many oversized dresses can look like a tent, especially on my petite 5’1″ frame, but this one still looks polished and put together.

However, the material is sheer, so I tend to wear a skirt slip underneath (or Amazon biker shorts which I like to wear when I’m chasing my son around in a dress). The material is not super soft when it first arrives, but it’s softened with a few wears. And it has pockets!

2. Annie Smocked Dress

I got the White Annie Smocked Dress two years ago. It quickly became my favorite after discovering how comfortable it is. The dress is made with 100% linen. So, it’s lightweight and breathable, and the stretchy smocked bodice front is comfortable and flattering. The puff sleeves are the reason I ordered this dress, and even though I have a petite frame, the sleeves don’t swallow me.

The length is right about my knees (I’m 5’1″), so I could definitely have it hemmed if I wanted to, but I haven’t made it to an alterations shop yet. Plus, since I’m chasing a toddler around all the time, the extra length is nice. If you’re closer to 5’5″ or 5’6″, this dress will be a cute mini length, but still not too short. This is a pull-on style dress, so no zippers. The bodice is really stretchy, so I’d be a great nursing-friendly option too. It’s priced super well since it’s on sale. And while I don’t recommend final sale items often, I can confidently say this is worth the purchase and the sizing is forgiving.

Tuckernuck carries this dress in two colors: white and black (I own both). I paired it with a pair of my favorite flat sandals at the beach, but it’d also be super cute with wedges or espadrilles and a clutch for a date.

3. Navy Sleeveless Charlie Dress

I got the Navy Sleeveless Charlie Dress recently and have worn it a handful of times in only a few weeks. The material is a blend of cotton, nylon, and spandex so it’s crazy comfortable. Sleeveless is my preference in the summer, and the front of this dress has a placket to hide the buttons that go all the way down. This is nursing friendly (even pregnancy friendly) and the fit is roomy and relaxed, but get your true size so the arm holes fit correctly. I have an XS.

4. Lilac Chloe Dress

I got the Lilac Chloe Dress in a recent summer order and WOW I’m in love. I feel like Jackie O whenever I put it on. It’s the perfect blend of sophisticated and polished, but the color and pockets make it fun and easy to wear. It’s the ideal dress for dressy events like a graduation ceremony, special church service, work lunch, etc. I love having something like this in my closet for events where a sundress just doesn’t cut it.

The chest of this dress is snug, so I sized up to a small to account for my bustier chest due to breastfeeding. Keep that in mind when choosing your sizing.

5. Navy Knit Striped Frenchie Dress

This Navy Knit Striped Frenchie Dress is one of my favorite purchases from last summer that I can’t wait to wear when it warms up a tad this spring. It’s boxy but not oversized or sloppy. It’s made with 100% cotton but has a luxe knit feel.

6. Fresher Buds Alice Dress

Top of my current Tuckernuck wishlist is the Fresher Buds Alice Dress. It’s polished, feminine, nursing friendly, and the length makes it so easy to wear around kids (longer dresses are always easier, since you can bend down without worrying!). I plan to style this with these easy nude heeled sandals or pumps.

7. Royal Blue Eyelet Quincy Mini Dress

This royal blue Quincy dress immediately caught my eye. I love the relaxed fit, and I the eyelet detail adds some fun interest. You could style this for the 4th of July and then wear the rest of the summer. I’d pair this dress with flat sandals, heeled sandals, or even some white sneakers like these Tretorns.

8. Royal Shirt Dress

I got this Royal Shirt Dress early in the spring two years ago in a cobalt blue (sadly, no longer available), but comes in so many other great colors. It’s ideal for business casual work wear, church, or just to wear for daily mom life. The three-quarters length sleeves and button down front feel very polished, but the boxy fit keep it casual and comfortable. The material is silky smooth stretch cotton sateen fabric and doesn’t wrinkle easily. And yes, it has pockets.

This dress comes in seven colorways. The solid colors are great for professional settings, but the floral patterns are so tempting. The length is a little long on me, so I got it altered shortly after getting it. (The picture below is pre-hemming.) Keep in mind I’m 5’1″, so if you’re a little taller, it may not need any hemming, and it runs TTS. This dress is right around $200, so it’s an investment, but a worthy one considering how much wear you could get out of it for years to come. It’s a timeless style.

I’ve worn this dress many ways: heels, sandals, and even white sneakers (I favor these Veja sneakers). Throw a baseball cap on, and you’re ready for your kids’ sporting events right after work.

9. Lavender Oxford Harris Shirt Dress

Yet another nursing-friendly (and pregnancy friendly too!) dress option for the spring. I love shirt dresses (always have), and this Lavender Oxford Harris Shirt Dress is calling my name. I love the idea of cuffing the sleeves, popping the collar, and styling with sneakers or loafers for a casual, everyday look. And it will also be PERFECT for dinner out since you could throw on a pair of platform sandals, and you’re good to go.

I’ve been seeing people drape chunky knits over their shoulders when they style shirt dresses, and I’ll have to try that as well.

10. Navy Kate Maxi Dress

I ordered this Navy Kate Maxi Dress within minutes of seeing it on sale during the annual Tuckernuck Sample Sale (which has already happened this year, sadly). Unfortunately, it was far too small, but I’m considering ordering it at full-price now that I have seen it in person and know how much I love it. It’s a perfect nursing friendly option for church, and since it’s navy, I can wear it year round. The midi length is beautiful and classy. I love this polished option for nursing mamas. Size up if you’re on the fence, unless you have a very tiny torso.

11. Green and White Ditsy Floral Matilda Mini Dress

One of the dresses on my spring wishlist is this Green and White Matilda Mini Dress. It’s around $150 (which is decent for Tuckernuck) and it’s nursing friendly, which is a must for me this year. I love the green and white colorway and the textured ruffles. While I used to stray from feminine patterns like this, I now feel so cute when I wear them!

I plan to wear this dress with heeled and flat sandals and even white sneakers.

12. Pink City Prints Rainbow Stripe Zazie Dress

I am totally obsessed with this Rainbow Stripe Zazis maxi dress. It reminds me of summer and makes me so happy! It’s made of 100% cotton, which means it’s breathable and ideal for warmer days. I love that the top is smocked since it makes this maxi dress nursing friendly!

One of my go-to brands for shorts is Madewell. They have a ton of styles, great prices and regular sales, every size under the rainbow (they are extremely size inclusive and have great curvy jean short options), multiple rises, and a variety of colors and washes. If you have the option to drop by in person at one of their stores, you can visit the Madewell Denim Bar, which has an extensive selection of jeans and denim shorts to try on.

With so many options, however, it can be a challenge to figure out how to narrow down which ones are best for your body type and preferences, especially if you are shopping online. In today’s post, I’m sharing a roundup of the best jean shorts, linen shorts, and more from Madewell, along with my thoughts about each. Hopefully this helps you narrow down your favorites or find a new pair to love! They have a cult following for good reason and I’ll get into all of the details in this post.

The Best Madewell Shorts: denim, linen and more

Madewell Jean Shorts

In the past, the issue I had with Madewell jean shorts was the sizing discrepancy. From pair to pair, I was anywhere from a 23 to a 25, which was super frustrating. However, last year (2023), it seemed like they corrected that issue because everything fit true to size. Not everything I ordered last year is still available, so I just placed another Madewell order that includes a few pairs of this season’s shorts. I’ll be sure to add my thoughts on fit and sizing below, once my order arrives.

I will note, however, that I tried a pair of dad jean shorts from Abercrombie this spring and absolutely love them (see how I styled the shorts in this video). If I was going to tell you to pick just ONE pair of denim shorts to buy this year, I would be those. Love you Madewell, but Abercrombie Dad Shorts have you beat!

The Perfect Vintage Mid-Length Jean Short

First, the The Perfect Vintage Mid-Length Jean Short. I was first introduced to Madewell’s Perfect Vintage style over 5 years ago when I was shopping for some non-skinny jeans. I LOVED the fit of the pair I found, so I quickly ordered the shorts version last year. I love that the length is considered “mid”. Not too short, not too long. The inseam is 5″, which feels perfect for an almost-40-year-old mom.

These are a high-rise (my preference), and made with just a touch of stretch. I also appreciate that the fit isn’t tight against the thigh. While they fit TTS last year, the reviews on this year’s shorts say they run just a tad small, so keep that in mind. If you like your jean shorts to be a bit baggy, I’d recommend sizing up in ANY pair you get.

The main difference between these and the Relaxed Jean Shorts (since the Perfect Jean Shorts also have looser and longer fitting styles this year) is the stretch. These are made with a blend of cotton and elastane, so Madewell considers them “comfort stretch”. While this isn’t my preference, I have many friends who love a stretchy denim short, and to their point, they really are comfortable, just not my preference.

I’m eyeing the Fitzgerald wash too!

Relaxed Mid-Length Denim Shorts

I ordered a pair of the Relaxed Mid-Length Denim Shorts last year and loved them. They’re similar to the Perfect Vintage style but they sit lower on the hips and have zero stretch. They’re made to have a relaxed fit, but if you size down, they will sit a bit higher on your hips. This year’s styles are in a few different washes, but the Wengler Wash: Step-Hem Edition is my favorite because it reminds me so much of the Agolde Parker Long shorts. These also have a 5″ inseam, which is perfect for us moms.

The photos below are from last years’ colorway which is currently unavailable.

Patch-Pocket Denim Shorts in Earlwood Wash

I ordered the Patch-Pocket Denim Shorts last year and LOVED them. The front pocket detail is so fun, and it feels more polished than most denim shorts. One thing to note is that they run small, and it’s important that you tuck your shirt in to the front of these so that it’s obvious your shorts aren’t on backwards! One huge selling point for this pair is the A-line cut which gives the leg opening a ton of space. If you hate when your shorts hug your thighs, you will love this style.

The inseam on these shorts is shorter than the styles above (3″), but the polished front pockets make them feel a more appropriate for a mom than a pair of 3″ cut-offs. Size up!

The blue wash is currently unavailable, but I love the white version too.

Madewell Tailored and Pull-On Shorts

Clean Pull-On Shorts in Linen-Cotton

This pair, the Clean Pull On Shorts, was one of my favorite finds from last year (I honestly just loved the color online and once they arrived, I REALLY loved the fit). These are a linen/cotton blend that has a tailored, flat front, that’s balanced with a stretchy, elastic waistline in the back that makes them easy to pull on and stay in all day.

The length is 3.5″, so while this would usually feel too short for me, the loose leg and high waist create the illusion that they’re longer than they are. I own these in a size XS and they fit true to size. Sadly, the pink is not available this year, but I love the tan linen for an everyday outfit.

Clean Button-Tab Shorts in 100% Linen

Similar to the pair above, the Clean Button-Tab Shorts in 100% Linen are an easy everyday pair of linen shorts. Except the Button-Tab adds a very polished touch that I love. I’ve had my eyes on the white pair for a few weeks and finally placed my order. I can’t wait for them to arrive! They have a 4″ inseam, and can be machine washed.

I’m planning to style them with this linen top (also from Madewell). If you’ve read my blog before, you know I’m a sucker for sets.

The Perfect Fatigue Mid-Length Short

I saw the dark plum color in these Mid-Length Fatigue Shorts last year and had to buy them. I love a utility/military style short that’s a touch more fun than normal. While last year’s shorts came in a 5″ length, this year’s style is a 3 1/2″ inseam, so they’ll be a bit shorter. They’re stretchy, which I love for a non-denim short, and they have a super flattering A-line shape.

The material is super soft, and they run very true to size (at least they did last year!!).

More to come as I find new favorites!

This honest review of Fabletics is unpaid and unsponsored, including the good, the bad (and the ugly!) of the workout clothes and the service.

I first tried Fabletics in 2014, when I ordered some pieces for myself as a paying member (we’ll get to how the membership works later), and I wore their clothes for my workouts. Then in 2015, Fabletics reached out and offered to send me free workout clothes, so I accepted. At that point, I was also ordering Fabletics with my own money since I really liked the fit and quality.

Fast forward to 2018 and Fabletics reached out again, offering to send more stuff for me to try. I agreed to try it out, but I was really disappointed when it arrived. The quality and fit were poor, so I stopped ordering from there and spent my money elsewhere. And since I was running the Boston Marathon that year, high quality running gear was important.

A few months ago (spring of 2024), I noticed people sharing Fabletics on social media again. And I also started to see the traffic on this blog post go up, meaning people started to search for reviews on Fabletics and this was the post they were landing on. And since my thoughts were from years ago, I figured I’d give Fabletics one more try and update this review accordingly. So I placed a large order (with my own money) to see how their products are these days.

I ordered a handful of matching sets (and a swimsuit since that’s a new category they carry), and I reviewed everything below. In short, my updated, honest opinion is that Fabletics is worth buying for some things.

Before I get into the details of which sets I liked and disliked, I thought some background might be helpful.

What is Fabletics?

Fabletics is a brand that makes activewear and athleisure. It was started in 2013 by co-founders Adam Goldenberg, Don Ressler and Ginger Ressler. Then in 2015, Kate Hudson launched a celebrity line with Fabletics that was super successful, and she now owns a portion of the company.

Can you shop Fabletics without being a member?

The short answer – no, you don’t have to be a member to shop at Fabletics. But it will save you money (in theory, if you never forget about the upcoming charges), if you do join as a member.

That’s because Fabletics operates on a monthly membership structure. When you join as a VIP member, you are charged $59.95 on the 5th of every month. That $59.95 is then yours to use on the website. So essentially you’re buying store credit that you can compile and use at any time. The perks that go along with VIP membership are 20-50% off retail prices and first dibs on exclusive drops. You have the freedom to “skip” any month, which opts you out of the $59.95 charge any month you want to — as long as you do it before the 6th of the month.

However, you can also shop Fabletics at regular, retail prices without becoming a member. I did notice that they make it seem pretty enticing to join as VIP, but unless you are confident that you’ll want to place multiple orders there per year, I do not think VIP membership is worth it.

I have multiple things on subscription — Amazon things, my postpartum hair growth supplement, my favorite probiotic and Daily Harvest, so I’m not afraid of a subscription. But, I don’t purchase workout gear on a regular cadence and I doubt most people do, so the membership doesn’t really make sense. Yes, they will send you emails to remind you about the upcoming charge with an option to skip, but if you’re not proactive, it’s easy to forget. And it’s not the easiest process to skip either — finding the confirmation button requires you to pay CLOSE attention on the website.

Can you cancel Fabletics VIP Membership after the first purchase?

Yes, but it’s not easy. You can’t do it online in your account settings – you have to talk to a customer service representative at 1-844-322-5384. Annoying.

A (Non-Sponsored) Fabletics Review

So, what do I think? Let’s break it down into five areas: Quality, Style, Value, Variety, and Customer Service/Ease of Use.

Fabletics Quality

I found the quality of the items in my most recent Fabletics order to be good. For the price (which is more affordable than Lululemon at full price and REALLY affordable at the VIP price), the quality is higher than I was expecting. It’s not quite as good as Lululemon but better than the Amazon workout gear I own.

The leggings have great compression, aren’t see-through, and hold their shape. I also really like the color options. The most noteworthy thing to keep in mind while shopping is that I found Fabletics leggings (and tops, honestly) to be VERY tight. The compression is really nice and holds you in all over but it’s not anything I want to lounge in like Lululemon Align leggings or my favorite Amazon lululemon legging dupes.

The sports bras and tanks are supportive and flattering. All of the options I tried had padding. They were all too small on me with the exception of one, but I think that’s only because I don’t really know my bra size right now since I’m newly postpartum and breastfeeding.

Fabletics Style

It’s cute! Nothing is super groundbreaking, but I do think the back detailing on their sports bras is really fun and unique. I definitely think anyone could find a style they like.

Fabletics Value

If you’re a VIP member, the value is REALLY good. When I placed my most recent order, the total retailed for $759.40 but with all of the VIP discounts, I spent a whopping $167.88 for 12 items. That is a pretty good deal, especially considering I like the clothes.

For retail pricing, I think the value is fair. It’s a little cheaper than Lululemon or Athleta, but I do think those are better than Fabletics in terms of fit and quality.

Fabletics Variety

Fabletics has stepped up their game in terms of variety. They have SO many styles and categories now. Not only do they make workout gear, but you can buy dresses, bags, swimwear, and even scrubs from Fabletics. And the men’s section is good too!

Customer Service

A few years ago, I thought it was pretty bad. I had to work with Customer Service a number of times on exchanges since things ran small and because I was missing a tank from one order. They always got my issue resolved, but they were difficult to deal with. Also, when I tried to exchange things, they were often sold out of the item I wanted by the time I got my order and realized I need to exchange it.

I haven’t needed to speak with customer service since I most recently ordered Fabletics, so it may have improved now. However, the low stock issues still persist. If/when I need to deal with customer service, I will update this!

Is Fabletics worth it?

Actually, yes… IF you are good about remembering to skip if you don’t want to be charged. I also think it could be a great deal if you also buy your husband or boyfriend clothes with your credit. Considering how much money I saved on such a large order, the VIP was 100% worth it. However, I don’t think I’ll want or need another large Fabletics haul for a while, so I’ll likely cancel my membership until I think about needing new things. That’s easier for me than setting a reminder to “skip” each month. Yeah, I’ll have to deal with customer service, but my savings on the first order were worth the hassle.

I also think it’s important that I note that “skipping” isn’t as easy as it should be. While Fabletics will send you an email reminder before the 6th, when you go into your account to skip, they make it a little bit confusing and hard to find the actual skip confirmation. I had to scroll down two full scrolls on my phone to find it, and I actually thought I already skipped before realizing that I hadn’t found the correct button. Be wary of this!!

My Fabletics Order

Define PowerHold® High-Waisted 7/8 Legging

The Define PowerHold® High-Waisted 7/8 Legging is great. The compression is nice, I love the high waist, and this Elemental Blue color is really pretty in person. I hate side pockets on leggings, so the lack of pockets sold me too. I have an XS and they’re very tight when putting them on, but then they feel fine. I think that’s the intended fit, but just keep that in mind when ordering.

Principal Low Impact Bra

I got the Principal Low Impact Bra in Elemental Blue to match the leggings, and the set is SO good together. The bra is supportive (even as someone who’s breastfeeding), and the back is really cute. I have a small.

All Day Every Day Low Impact Bra

The All Day Every Day Low Impact Bra is VERY flattering. I love v-neck styles and this bra is no exception. The support is light (which I expected), but since I’m breastfeeding, I just need a little more support than this gave me. I ended up returning, but I’m wearing a size small below.

On-The-Go PowerHold® High-Waisted Legging

The leggings I’m wearing in the photos below are the On-The-Go PowerHold® High-Waisted Legging. Unlike the blue pair above, these have pockets (which I don’t love, but that may be your preference). These leggings have the same amount of compression as the pair above.

The One Jogger

I’m always ordering and trying joggers because it’s difficult to find a pair that fits my petite frame. I was pleasantly surprised by the One Joggers. I have a size XS short. They’re very lightweight and have zip pockets. These were designed for women after the men’s version was so successful. But, I still prefer my Athleta Venice Joggers by a long shot.

Oasis Rib Twist Built-In Bra Tank

I REALLY like the Oasis Rib Twist Built-In Bra Tank. The length is perfect (not too short, but not too long), the support is fair, and the back is really cute. The material is the Fabletics Performance Rib, which is their softest fabric.

Anywhere Built-In Bra Tank

The Anywhere Built-In Bra Tank reminds me of the Lululemon Align tank. The cut is similar, it’s low impact and breathable, and made with Fabletics’ eco-friendly Motion365+ fabric. I have a size small.

One Cargo Skirt

I ordered the One Cargo Skirt to match the Anywhere Built-In Bra Tank and I thought the full outfit was really cute. I like the lavender (I’m having a purple moment right now). It’s lightweight and has built-in shorts. I am wearing a small.

High Tide Zip-Front One-Piece Swimsuit

I LOVED the hot pink color of this High Tide Zip-Front One-Piece Swimsuit. The zipper front is really cool and sporty, but also feels tastefully sexy (it’s also nursing friendly!). I ordered a size small but I couldn’t even get it on my body. Definitely size up if you try it.

The Belt Bag

The final product I got was the Belt Bag. I wanted to see how it compared to my Lululemon and Amazon belt bags. I think it’s fine, but it’s not great enough to order over Amazon. If you’re already placing a Fabletics order, then sure, add it to your cart. But don’t buy this on it’s own and pay for shipping when you could just order from Amazon.

Okay, that’s all I got! I’ll update this post if and when I order more. Lastly, thought it would be fun to include an older photo from when I published this post in 2018! I hope this info was helpful as you’re shopping for Fabletics!

Recently on Instagram, I was asked, “If you could only shop in one place for the rest of your life, where would it be?” The answer to that question has changed a LOT over the past decade as my style as evolved. When I was living in Utah (I’m from there!), I was not as partial to the colorful, preppy, feminine brands that I saw on women in the South, but in the last few years, that’s what I’ve started gravitating towards. I guess that’s what living in the South for over a decade will do to you ;).

So, the answer to that question now? Hands down, Tuckernuck. I love almost every single thing they carry. If I am shopping at another retailer, and I’m not quite sure how I feel about any given item, I tend to ask myself, “Would Tuckernuck carry it?” and if the answer is yes, I feel confident in the style!  It’s impressive to me that their clothes are great for both 20-somethings and the almost 40-year-old mom like me. It’s classic, American and feminine – everything I want my style to be!

Tuckernuck has become my go-to for my closet and home and I have a handful of roundups on the blog:

The brand was started by Jocelyn Moore Gailliot, Madeline Moore, and September Rinnier in 2012. It has grown into huge online retailer since then. They source their womens clothes from only the best designers, and I’ve been introduced to some of my favorite brands through them.

10 Tuckernuck Tops

In today’s post, I’m rounding up my favorite blouses from their current selection. I haven’t had a chance to place an order yet this spring, but I have a VERY big cart built online after refreshing this blog post. I’m always looking for elevated tops to pair with jeans, my favorite denim shorts, and white jeans in the summer. Tuckernuck has such fun top options, but some are a little busy for my taste (they make sleeveless blouses with ruffled collars and bow backs, patterned tops with feather details, and of course leather and suede tops in the cooler months).

I like to stick to more simple styles, so here are the Tuckernuck tops I’m loving lately.

Black Eyelet Hastings Blouse

The tiny eyelet detail on this black Hastings blouse is so cute. It’s sheer but not see-through. I love that you can wear a regular bra without it truly showing through, but the texture adds some fun interest. The puff ruffled sleeves are pretty big, so I appreciate that the neckline is a v-neck to draw the eyes towards the chest instead of right out to the shoulders. This should be able to wear this all summer with dark jeans, denim shorts, or white jeans.

I got a size XS in this top and it runs true to size.

Blue Stripe Rae Blouse

I’ve always been someone who loves stripes, and this relaxed, ruffle collar striped top is so effortlessly chic. I love how it’s styled with dark wash denim on the website. However, I know I’d also wear it often with white jeans and even casual denim shorts. I also love the price tag (under $100). The high neck ruffle collar, short cap sleeves, and a button front placket make this the PERFECT popover blouse for spring and summer.

Ivory Americana Sweater

There’s nothing more me than this sweater. I love all things America, and this is such a tasteful sweater all year. I have the ivory version so that I can wear it in the summer. I’ve been surprised by just how much I’ve worn it! It’s pricey ($248.00) but since it’s a classic piece that I know I’ll wear forever, I don’t mind. It’s made with 100% cotton and I ordered an XS. It runs big, so size down or plan to wear it oversized. I love timeless, classic pieces that show my love for the United States!

If you love the look but don’t want this to be oversized, you will love the cropped version. It is SO cute, especially in the Beachwood color.

White Kaia Flutter Sleeve Tee

There’s nothing more useful to have in your closet than a feminine ruffle sleeve tank. It can be worn on its own with jean shorts or jeans, and it can also be tucked into a maxi skirt. I love that the ruffles stand out a bit and make a statement, but they aren’t overpowering or overwhelming for a petite frame. This top is under $100 and a classic you’ll wear into the ground. If you can make it work in your budget, get both the white and black.

If you’re nursing a baby right now (like me!), then opt for this similar option with a button down front neckline.

Paulina Top

I love that this Paulina top could be worn for work or dressed up for a night out! The button down front with a peplum detail is unique and polished (and I usually don’t like peplum!), and the fact that it’s sleeveless is another summer bonus. Unfortunately each colorway is sold out of a few sizes, but if you click through all three options, you’ll find your size in one of the colors.

I also really love this Strapless Noir Crepe Marin Top. It’s a great night-out option that can be toned down with a cashmere wrap or denim jacket. Similar to the Paulina, but a bit more sexy.

Selena Blouse

If the color is described as raspberry pink, I’m going to buy it. This Selena blouse is stunning. I love the stand-up collar, puff sleeves with elastic details, button front, and relaxed fit. This is another one of those shirts that works well for all day wear since you’ll be comfortable yet chic for every occasion. It looks great both untucked and tucked into pants. And it comes in a handful of colors, so if raspberry pink isn’t your thing, you’ll still find something you like. This Poppy Stripe Margot Top also has that same fun raspberry red color in it, but with a slightly more streamlined silhouette, if that’s more your style.

Floral Sleeve and White Shelby Tee

Have you ever seen a more feminine tee than this floral sleeve white tee? The floral puff sleeves are cute and frilly, while the rest of the tee is a classic slim fit. The material is cotton, so its lightweight, breathable, and easy to to dress up or down. I’d style this shirt with white jeans, my favorite denim shorts. Even a cute pair of overalls, if that’s your style.

Black Livia Puff Sleeve Top

I own this black Livia puff sleeve top and LOVE the material! It’s ribbed, which I didn’t realize until it arrived, and I’ve really liked that it’s different than the rest of the tops I own! I find that it feels more dressy than casual, so I usually pair it with longer jeans instead of denim shorts, but that’s totally preference. The puff sleeves add a really fun, feminine detail, and the v-neck makes it easy to style with my favorite everyday jewelry.

Lilac Clayton Long Sleeve Knit Polo

I love a lightweight summer sweater, especially for women who work in an office! It’s always freezing cold inside in the south during the south because everyone is blasting their AC, so a lightweight sweater like this Clayton Knit Polo is a great top to wear to work. I love this lilac color too (I’m on a big purple kick right now), and the fact that it’s just slightly cropped so that it will meet your work pants without needing a front-tuck.

Navy Veronica Top

A simple sleeveless tee is a closet essential for me. I really like the ruffle detail on the neckline of the Veronica top. It’s simple, not distracting, and can be worn easily with shorts or jeans. V-necks are always more flattering on me than a crewneck. So, I’m going to add a few colors to my cart.

That’s all I have today, but I’ll update this post if I spot other must-have Tuckernuck tops while I’m browsing.

Over the last year or two I’ve become a pretty big fan of Amazon fashion. So much so, that each week I source new finds and share them on Instagram and in a weekly email (join this list if you want my finds send to your inbox every Sunday). I know shopping for clothes on Amazon can feel overwhelming since there is just SO much to sort through, so I spend time sourcing fashion and home items so that you don’t have to weed through the thousands (literally, thousands) of options yourself!

Most of the time, I’ll order a few of the items to try myself, and in those cases, I’ll speak to the fit and quality. The rest of the styles I include in the post are things I’m eyeing and would like to order, but haven’t quite yet. But that’s pretty much how I shop online anyway — order, try on, keep some, mail back the rest — and I bet it’s how you shop too so hopefully this helps you narrow down what to order!

Today’s post is all about dresses. Specifically, dresses I love for spring and warm weather (since we’re finally getting some of that!). I hope you find something you’re excited about!

My Favorite Spring Amazon Dresses

Jaya Smocked Bodice Chiffon Maxi

This pink floral maxi dress by The Drop (an in-house Amazon brand), is quite a find. The bodice has smocking across the entire front and back, making it super comfortable. Nursing moms, this dress would be easy to wear while breastfeeding because of the smocked top that you can easily pull down. I’m wearing a size XS in this and have paired it with Dolce Vita sandals I also got from Amazon.

Britt Tiered Maxi Tent Dress

The Britt Tiered Maxi Tent dress from Amazon is one of the best selling dresses I shared by far. I own both the solid orange colorway and a striped version. The fit is really nice (its not too tight under your arms), and the length is great on me (I’m 5’1″, so it may be shorter on you). A follower on Instagram told me that she crosses the straps before she puts the dress on since they’re too long on her, which I though was a great tip. I have a size XS. I wear this strapless bra with it (best ever, BTW).

Summer Stripe Maxi Dress with Pockets

One of my favorite Amazon dresses for the spring is this blue and white stripe dress. I love the fit – it’s forgiving and comfortable – and it has pockets. It looks and feels more expensive than it is, and I get compliments on it every time I break it out. I have a size small.

Yasmin Rib Midi Sweater Tank Dress

I bought this midi sweater tank dress two years ago and wore it SO often. The style is easy to dress down with sneakers or sandals (see it styled 4 ways in this reel), and the material is truly so comfortable. I have an XS in this and it comes in a lot of colors.

Pink Denim Romper

This pink denim romper is one of the best Amazon finds I’ve ever had. No, it’s not a dress, but since it’s one piece and makes a full outfit, I’m including it in this post. I love that it’s comfortable, the fit is adjustable with side buttons, and it’s SO practical. The front zips all the way down too, which makes it super nursing friendly. I actually wore this while I was pregnant until about 23 weeks since the side buttons allowed it to be a little roomier. It’s super soft and fits true to size.

TeriLyn Adams wearing Pink Denim Romper one of the Affordable Fall Dresses

Green Collared Button Down Dress

This collared button down dress was a purchase I made two summers ago that I knew I could wear into fall, but it’s also a great spring dress from Amazon. I love that the front buttons all the way down (nursing friendly), the rounded drop of the skirt is unique and flattering, and it has pockets. It comes in a ton of other colors too, and the fit is true to size. I have a small.

Chambray Denim Shirt Dress

This is another Amazon dress that I originally got for the fall, but also works perfectly for the spring. I was shocked by the fit and quality when it first arrived, and it is SO easy to style! You can pair this denim shirt dress with sneakers, loafers, or sandals. The fit is relaxed and it’s a great nursing-friendly dress. I have a size XS.

Amazon Red Smocked Maxi Dress

This red smocked maxi dress with flutter sleeves was 4th of July find from last summer that I can’t wait to pull out again this spring. It’s under $50, the fit is true to size, and I feel so pretty in it! I always love wearing red. I have a size XS in this and it’s pregnancy and nursing friendly.

Athleisure Tennis Dress

I love a good tennis dress find, and this black athleisure tennis dress from Amazon is a WINNER. It has a built in shelf bra and built in shorts. The quality is really good, and it comes in a ton of colors. I have a size XS.
